Instructions to speed up loading AmplifyPACS
Release date: 9/21/2023Issue: AmplifyPACS viewer takes about 30 seconds or longer to bring up the login screen.
Cause: A website that the AmplifyPACS software relies on for update checking has been disabled by the manufacturer.
This causes AmplifyPACS to "wait" for 30 seconds, then times out and proceeds to the login screen.
Solution
Instructions for end users:- Important: Administrator rights on the computer is required, if you do not have Adminstrator access you will need to contact your IT support person to assist you.
- Download the HOSTS file fix to your desktop or downloads folder: https://amplifypacs.com/update-hosts.exe
- ***VERY IMPORTANT - If you don't follow this step correctly, the fix will fail***
Go to the folder where the file is saved (desktop or downloads folder),
Right click on "update-hosts.exe" and select "Run as Administrator"
Tip: If you can't locate the file, Press CTRL + J to bring up your recent downloads, and click "show in folder" under update-hosts.exe - Confirm you ran the program as an Administrator by clicking "Yes"
- Enter the case sensitive password amplify then click OK
- Verification step: Select "Notepad" from the list of programs
- if performed correctly, the hosts file should show this on the very bottom of the document (if you don't see it, go back to step 3):
127.0.0.1 www.genesisdigital.com
Instructions for IT/Network professionals:
The objective is to point the following domain to the local host, to bypass the non responsive site.
www.genesisdigital.com --> 127.0.0.1
This change may be done on the router by modifying the DNS or on an individual machine by modifying the HOSTS file (see Instructions for end users above for a shortcut).
